Arkansas State Police began in 1935 when Governor J.J. Futrell and the Arkansas General Assembly approved and signed into law Act 120 known as the Chirp-Carter Bill, thus Arkansas State Police was born.  The first men to be empowered in Arkansas with statewide law enforcement duties and responsibilities were known as Rangers.  Time would pass and the officer’s would later be called troopers.  

Headquarters station at State Police Little Rock (KASP) had a radiotelegraph zone watch and the following AM voice channels, 1722 kc including state wide 1618 -1626 - 1674 - 1682 - 1722 & 2406 mc.  


 

The HF CW watch consisted of; APCO CW channels 2 - 5 and 7 MHZ. VHF on 35.78 MHZ - Nothing remains but a few obscure electronic engineering shop photos at Little Rock HQ.  Short CW call was “JK”  

As Ohio developed and engineered their own radio operating positions, so did Engineers at Little Rock.
