Honor, Duty, Fidelity - The motto of the New Jersey State police was adopted from the West Point motto, “Duty, Honor, Country.” The triangular State Police logo and hat badge represent this motto. The badge has stars in each of its three corners and was created by New York jeweler Julius George Schwarzkopf, the father of founder Herbert Norman Schwarzkopf Sr. The N.J.S.P logo includes the year 1921, date of founding, in place of a badge number. (Do you remember Norman Schwarzkopf Jr of Desert Storm?)

The first State Police class reported for training in September 1921, consisting of 116 men out of an applicant group of 1,600. Training took place at Sea Girt, New Jersey on the same grounds as the current New Jersey State Police Academy. Out of the original 116 men who started training, only 81 officers and troopers completed the three month training program.
“On 1 December 1921, the new troopers were administered the oath of office and on 5 December 1921 in a blinding snowstorm, started out on horseback and motorcycle to their posts throughout the State of New Jersey.”

Pictured above our Amateur QSL card, Troop -C- located in Central N.J. The field operations are divided into 5 troops. Troop A through E. Notice our friend Ed Raser W2ZI was a trustee and Chief operator. His early wireless museum dedicated to radio and technical abilities were well known.  APCO listings in the 40's supported the Eastern States teletype network, due to very complete coverage, they didn’t include a radio network.

Today there is a State Police Museum located at 1040 River Rd, West Trenton N.J. When in the area, spend some time and by all means visit the Memorial Walkway, remembering those who put their lives on the line for New Jersey.
This place of education and service is a complete facility and offers a place for the public to attend, picnic and relax.
